Straus Scholars Grants

The purpose of this grant is to provide financial assistance to qualified candidates as outlined below. Grants of up to $5,000 will be awarded for the 2008-2009 academic year and these grants are renewable each year based on good academic progress.  In addition, students graduating after the fourth year with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher will receive an additional $5,000 to pay down their student loans.

To be considered you must meet the following criteria:

	Must be a permanent resident of Maryland
	Candidates must be a sophomore, junior or senior pursuing an undergraduate degree at any accredited US institution.
	Must be continually enrolled on a full-time basis
	Must demonstrate financial need
	Preference will be given to Baltimore City students who attend Maryland public colleges but all Maryland students are encouraged to apply.

Application Process: Supporting Documents must be submitted by no later than May 31, 2008 and any postmarked after this deadline will not be considered.  Incomplete application packages will not be considered. Early application is encouraged.

Finalists will be contacted by email and may be required to come to an interview with the Grant Committee or a member of the CSB staff.  

This a competitive program; not all applicants will be selected as recipients.  All decisions of Central Scholarship Bureau and the Grant Committees are final.
